A new purpose built centre, within the Department of Experimental Psychology in the heart of the University Science area, has been built to house the MSc students in Neuroscience, the 4-year Wellcome Trust students and MSc students in Research in Methods in Psychology.

This office provision is most important: we are very conscious that people on interdisciplinary courses are prone to suffer from a lack of identity, as compared to students who work within a designated department. The shared office space gives students the kind of cohesion that would normally be provided by a department, even though the courses themselves are completely interdepartmental; we expect the students to identify with the course itself, rather than over-identifying with any particular department. This effect should be enhanced during the critical introductory term, during which students attend classes together as a cohort.
