"Oscillations in the basal ganglia have been in length investigated due to its relationship with Parkinson's disease. More specifically, beta band oscillations show a close relationship with bradykinesia in disease, and with the suppression of motor movements in healthy individuals. Here I present two analysis approaches which use computational models to interpret the available unit activity data. This combination of experimental and computational tools allow us to find a potential generator of beta oscillators, which nuclei are shaping these waves and what network connectivity is in closest agreement with the data."
