I am a multi-disciplinary senior scientist leading two main programmes of work on Brain Health. I am PI for Blossom Early Adversity and Brain Health Programme https://www.psych.ox.ac.uk/research/early-adversity-and-brain-health and Modify: Modifying Dementia Risk Through Lifestyle Programme Modifying Dementia Risk — Department of Psychiatry (ox.ac.uk). Both programmes of work focus on differentially exploring healthy ageing through understanding the characteristics of later life brain health and life-course resilience.
I am also Oxford PI for the NIH funded Covid-19 Global Mental Health Consortium (CGMHC): An international collaborative programme investigating the global mental health impact of the Covid-19 pandemic along with colleagues in Harvard and São Paolo. I also work with colleagues on establishing a data hub for traumatic brain injury (TBI) funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC): TBI-REPORTER (UK-TBI REpository and data PORTal Enabling discoveRy). Further, I work with the Fraunhofer Institute, Germany and European colleagues on the HORIZON funded COMMUTE: COMorbidity Mechanisms UTilized in hEalthcare project.
I supervise a team of DPhil and postdoctoral researchers working across my projects both at the University of Oxford and internationally. I specialise in the application of structural equation modelling (SEM) and psychometric methodologies (IRT) to longitudinal large-cohort data, and train analysts working across multi-modal large cohort data sources. I also lead projects supporting diversity and inclusivity in brain health research. I am PI for an ARUK funded project 'Your Beautiful Brain' - running brain health art workshops for the Black African and Caribbean communities. I am also PI for a programme of work 'Not just a missing number', focused on the LGBTQIA+ community for increasing research participation, understanding and scientific focus for mental and cognitive health within this population. I also lead a programme of work on understanding the difficulties and barriers of hearing aid use in people with cognitive impairment and dementia, funded by ARUK.
I am also senior scientist for BrainWaves, a platform for understanding adolescent mental health and wellbeing, and providing an evidence base for research https://brainwaveshub.org/ .
