Impaired autophagy plays a pathogenic role in several major neurodegenerative diseases and strategic interventions of the autophagic pathway are emerging as promising therapeutic targets. I am using imaging techniques and functional assays to delineate mechanisms of endosomal degradation and study their significance for neuronal viability.
