I am a consultant old age psychiatrist with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust working mainly with women inpatients experiencing depressive disorders, bipolar disorder and psychosis.
My interests are the management of late life depression and psychological treatments with older people. I am currently a PI with the NIHR-funded PATHFINDER study of problem-solving therapy in people with dementia who are depressed (CI Professor Rob Howard, UCL).
I am a member of the NICE Depression in adults (update) guideline development group.
I have experience of using transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in the treatment of late-life depression and was a specialist adviser on tDCS to the NICE Interventional Procedures Programme.
I teach medical students at the University of Oxford and am a College Adviser and member of Green Templeton College. I am also a trained teacher of English to speakers of other languages with an interest in teaching medical and academic English.
