Marie Johansson

MBCT Teacher/Coordinator

Marie Johansson is a qualified Social Worker and an experienced mental health practitioner, CBT group worker and MBCT teacher and trainer. As Clinical Lead at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, she co-ordinates the delivery of MBCT within the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, and together with Christina Surawy is spearheading dissemination of MBCT to psychological treatment services in the community, part of a government-sponsored initiative to make evidence-based psychological treatments more widely available to patients with mental and physical health problems. She teaches MBCT to clinical groups (she has a particular interest in working with people suffering from depression and anxiety and a range of mental health issues) and to public service staff and the general public.  She trains new MBCT teachers both within the UK and internationally. This includes delivering the foundational 5-day MBCT experiential intensive and the 7 day Residential Teacher Development Retreat. Marie also supervises MBCT Masters students and trainee teachers as well as more experienced teachers, mostly within psychological treatment services.

Marie is an Executive Director at the OMC, working closely with the Centre Director, Professor Mark Williams.
