Improving Equality, Diversity and Inclusiveness.

The University of Oxford is committed to fostering an inclusive culture which promotes equality, values diversity and maintains a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its staff and students are respected. We recognise that a diverse staff and student body strengthens our research and enhances our teaching due to their broad range of life experiences, and that in order for Oxford to remain a world-leading institution we must continue to provide a diverse, inclusive, fair and open environment that allows everyone to grow and flourish.

The Oxford Neuroscience Community has been developing a unified strategy to achieve positive change in academic diversity. We are working on a number of initiatives that aim to improve equality of opportunity and inclusion in our workplaces, including development and adoption of evidence-based best practices.

ALBA is a network of brain scientists committed to fostering fair & diverse scientific communities. They have drafted the ALBA declaration as a resource for concrete, positive, evidence-based actions that individuals and organizations at any level can take to promote equity & inclusivity. ALBA believe that adopting the actions in the declaration will benefit all members of the research community and the scientific enterprise itself.

Oxford Neuroscience is proud to be a signatory of the ALBA Declaration.
