Researchers from OxQUIP and the Vision Group shared their innovative technologies with colleagues

OxQuip team members at their stand at the Oxford Digital Festival

The second Oxford Digital Festival happened on Thursday 14 November 2024, at Rhodes House. Over 100 digital innovators from across the University gathered under one roof to inspire colleagues about the potential of digital Oxford.

Hosted by Professor Anne Trefethen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, People and Digital, the day featured plenary talks, interactive sessions, exhibition stands and offered attendees the opportunity to network.

Two teams from NDCN set up stalls at the festival to share how innovative digital technology is helping to progress their research and improve the lives of patients, in simple, non invasive methods - often from the comfort of their own home.

In 'Train Your Eyes, Train Your Brain' Betina Ip and Juju Fars from the Vision Group explored how specialised virtual reality (VR) training using a simple, but challenging visual task can improve vision in people with amblyopia, commonly known as "lazy eye."

Over on the OxQUIP stand, Professor Chrystalina Antoniades and her team from the NeuroMetrology Lab introduced visitors to the wearable tech helping them to quantify Parkinson's Disease. Eye tracking technology and wearable inertial measurement devices help detect disease progression over much shorter time periods than is possible at present.
