DPAG has once again been ranked world number one for Anatomy and Physiology in the 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
Published annually, QS World Rankings by Subject uses four components to rank universities: academic reputation, which this year drew on responses from over 100,000 academics worldwide; employer reputation, which this year drew on nearly 50,000 survey responses from graduate employers worldwide; research citations per paper, which reflects the most prevalent publication patterns in a given discipline; and H-index, which measures both the productivity and impact of published work. Head of Department Professor David Paterson commented: "Absolutely delighted for the Department in what has been a challenging year. This reflects the outstanding scholarship of our colleagues and the strength of the platform that our professional services staff provide for them to undertake world leading science. Well done (again)!"
The Medical Sciences Division as a whole has once again been ranked second in the world, and the University of Oxford came top across five disciplines in total.
