The Departments of Experimental Psychology; Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics and the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences have all been awarded Silver Athena Swan awards in the current round.  The Athena SWAN Charter was established in 2005 to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine and to create a better working environment for all staff.

These Departments join the Department of Psychiatry which has held a silver award since December 2014.  It is a great achievement that so many of our key neuroscience departments have achieved the Silver Award. The Department of Pharmacology has also contributed to this achievement and has held a Bronze award since 2013.

We are delighted that we now have silver Athena Swan status in our neuroscience departments.  The changes we have introduced have created better career structures for both women and men which will allow us to attract and retain the best people in the future
