The prestigious Autumn School in Psychiatry was held on the 7th – 9th September at St Catherine’s College.

The autumn school in psychiatry

Now in its 3rd year the event, organised by the Dept of Psychiatry in conjunction with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, provides UK clinical medical students and foundation doctors with a valuable insight into Oxford’s world-class research and research facilities in psychiatry and neuroscience.

This year’s school featured a packed programme of 41 speakers and discussion leaders including researchers from across the Dept of Psychiatry, the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, the Structural Genomics Consortium, the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and the Clinical Academic Graduate School.  Topics covered a range of research areas including dementia and ageing, cognitive neuropsychology, anxiety disorders, neuroimaging, psychosis and psychopharmacology. The event was once again a great success and received very positive feedback.  As one delegate summed it up ‘I am now even more certain that I want to be a psychiatrist’.
