World Sleep Day is an internationally recognised event promoted by the World Sleep Society. It is aimed to build connections and raise sleep health awareness among researchers, health care workers, patients, and the public. Each year, World Sleep Day Delegates across the world organize sleep health awareness activities in their clinics, communities, and countries.
The theme for World Sleep Day 2025 was 'Make Sleep Health a Priority'. To that end, Dr Rachel Sharman, Senior PostDoctoral Researcher in Sleep Medicine, joined forces with the NDCN and University comms teams to produce a short video sharing her top five tips for a good night's sleep.
The video was shared across the University of Oxford TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn channels on World Sleep Day.
Meanwhile, at the West Wing of the John Radcliffe Hospital, a team led by Luca Ratti put on a fascinating, interactive public engagement event in the foyer.
The Experimental & Clinical Sleep Medicine team - and special guest, Dr Poly Somnography🐻- were on hand throughout the day to demonstrate how sleep is measured in the lab and to invite people to try out the Race to Sleep giant board game!
