Sergei Gutnikov


Sergei Gutnikov started his medical training when he was 14 and graduated from Vladivostok State Medical University (Russia) with distinction in on his 20th birthday. In his postgraduate training he studied psychopharmacology in St.Petersburg (Russia) and then physiological mechanisms of learning and memory at Oxford University where he received his DPhil degree in 1995. Throughout his career Sergei has been interested in computing and he developed several computer-controlled techniques in experimental psychology.  

Sergei was the first employee of Peter Rothwell on a stroke research project in Oxford starting in 1997 and has been working at the Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia since its establishment (as Stroke Research Prevention Unit) in 2000. He maintains computer database for the OXVASC project and writes in-house software.
