The Ca41(d,He3)K40 reaction has been studied at a bombarding energy of 20 MeV using a multigap magnetic spectrometer. Energy levels in K40 up to 3 MeV excitation energy have been observed. All the levels coming from the [1f72-(1d32)-1] particle-hole configuration have been well resolved. Distorted wave analysis using exact finite range calculations have provided good values of the spectroscopic strengths for the observed particle-hole multiplets.
